Our Activities in Polyurethane started in the late 1970's when we introduced Polyurethane (PU) Spray Foam and PU Refrigerator Systems to the Middle East Markets. In anticipation of the large growth in demand for Polyurethanes in the Middle East and Africa regions, we established in 1994 the first polyurethane system house in the Middle East with pre-polymer technology and a complete polyurethane product range.
In April 2005 we moved to our new 15,000 sqm production facility in Baalbaki Industrial Zone-Damascus Syria. This move put Baalbaki's production of Aromatic and Aliphatic Polyester Polyols; Isocyanate Pre-polymers; and Formulated Polyurethane Systems under one roof. This facility has been acknowledged as one of the most advanced and modern independent System Houses in the world. It is the only System House in the Middle East, Africa and GCC region with integrated polyesters; bulk delivery possibilities; and a complete range of Polyurethane Systems and Thermoplastic Urethanes (TPU) covering applications in Insulation; Footwear; Automotive; Seating; and Adhesives.

To maintain this proximity while growing our regional customer base, we decided in 2006 to embark on a regional expansion strategy and establish a network of system houses in major markets in the Middle East area
By 2010, we had added to our netwrok system houses in the UAE and Egypt as well as a technical services & distribution center in Turkey.
A second pillar of our strategy has been to develop our Specialty Chemicals product range. Thus, in 2008 a new facility for the production of specialty chemicals related to or based on Polyurethane chemistry was constructed on the Damascus site. This facility produces: Lamination Adhesives; Polyurethane Adhesives; Neoprene Adhesives; Pigments; Varnishes and Release Agents.
In 2009 the Syrian facility was further expanded to include the production of Acrylic Polyols, Unsaturated Polyester Resins (UPR) and Filled Polyethers.
