Background and Profile
Our history in the refrigeration and HVAC industry goes back to 1957 when Mr. Omar Baalbaki and sons established Barada Metallic Industries Co. Barada was one of the first producers of domestic refrigerators, steel furniture, and home appliances in the Middle East. Barada Metallic Industries was licensed by Mauser GMBH for steel furniture and Linde AG for refrigerators.
Upon the nationalization of Barada Metallic Industries in 1963, Dr. Ihsan Baalbaki moved to Beirut – Lebanon and re-initiated the Group's business activities by establishing a marketing consultancy firm under the name IMIC. Dr. Ihsan Baalbaki was appointed as marketing consultant in the refrigeration sector to around 30 leading industrial concerns including L'Unite Hermetique, Thyssen AG, Ugine Kuhlman, Pechinet/Rubanox, Saint Gobain etc...
In 1973 we established in cooperation with L'Unite Hermetique and Pechinet France a trading and confirming house in Paris/France under the name Unimetco sarl specialized in trading refrigeration components.
In 1976 we established in cooperation with Ugine Kuhlmann a forane gas filling station in Damascus-Syria.
In 1983 we established in Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan a distribution Network with integrated retail outlets for refrigeration and air-conditioning components and equipment.
In 2000 we established in Syria a complete assembly line for split airconditioners and water coolers.
In 2010 we re-opened our branch in Bagdad-Iraq.
Today we have positioned ourselves as a major regional distributor of air conditioners, refrigerators, and refrigeration and air-conditioning components, with integrated assembly lines, distribution facilities, and retail outlets. We currently serve more than 1500 customer in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq
